APC leave Chief Tompolo alone
There has been threats that the Economic and financial Crimes commission (EFCC) wants to declare high chief government Ekpemupolo, aka Tompolo wanted on an alleged 13billion naira land scam. As said by chief Ekpemupolo and I quote "that this said money passed through due process and the APC and the Buhari lead government that is behind all these as he refused to join APC to campaign for Bayelsa governorship candidate Timipreye Sylva"
I know it is selfish people with their selfish political interests and self benefits that want to betray high chief Tompolo for him to be arrested, simply because he is a supporter of former president Jonathan and PDP. Tompolo is a peaceful man, it is those that do not know him judged him wrongly, he has done a lot of good things in the Niger Delta region as a whole.
what he has done no one has done that in the Niger Delta. He fights for the betterment of his people. So therefore the APC people should let him be.
Since the start of president Buhari's government, it has been one probe to another of people who supported former president Jonathan, no APC former politician under Jonathan's government has been probed, it is only the PDP people, why is it supposed to be so?
For instance, the ministerial nominees that were screened by the senate all passed the screening, how possible is that? Are they telling us non of them were corrupt? How can "Amaechi former Rivers state governor said that he has never taken bribe or given bribe before"? Nigerians we are not fools, most of the ministerial nominees at then had corruption cases in Court and they still went ahead to confirm them as ministers. Also Timipreye Silva was a former governor of Bayelsa state under PDP, and he didn't do anything, he defected to APC to contest for governor again in the same state, when he was the governor what did he do? Is it now that he wants to do something, he is calling PDP a failure party and meanwhile he is one of those PDP people. We are students and we are learning everyday, we are not stupid.
At the moment nigeria currency is depreciating everyday, there is fuel scarcity everywhere and Boko Haram are busy bombing. I believe these are the main things the APC and president Buhari should find solutions for, not probing and trying to arrest all those that supported Jonathan and PDP that they are corrupt, because not all of them are corrupt. As far as I know all APC members are corrupt, because they were once in PDP before defecting to APC because president Buhari is the president.
I am not against president Buhari, I am a student and all I want is nigeria to be a better place, but probing only PDP members and nullifying PDP governors election is not being fair at all. All APC want is for all the 36 states governors to be APC members and that can not be possible, when Jonathan was the president other party governors were ruling, non of them were nullified.
I'm from Niger Delta region and a full blooded Nigerian, it is good to say the truth. President Buhari is trying, but he should be careful with bad advisers for his government to be a better and nigerians will be proud of him, some bad people are advising the president wrongly and which is not good, same bad people advised Jonathan during his tenure and that made nigeria thought Jonathan was a bad president, which he is not.
I here conclude by saying APC should leave high chief Tompolo and Jonathan supporters alone, if They are probing they should probe all those that defected to APC from PDP and now have other government appointments too.
Long live Niger Delta
Long live Nigeria.

Why I'll Keep Boko Haram Pregnancy- Victim
Despite stigmatisation that she has been greeted with by members of her local community, a 16-year-old victim of Boko Haram, impregnated by the insurgents, Um Haleema (not real name), has said she would keep the pregnancy because her unborn baby deserves to live.
According to the soon-to-be teenage mother, her first few months in captivity, at the hands of militant group Boko Haram, were enough to break anyone’s spirit, let alone that of a teenage girl so far from home.
She said she was captured while trying to escape, along with three of her friends, as Boko Haram burned and ransacked her village and that during her captivity, she was forced to watch men, women and children slaughtered, forced into marriage and also forced to wait on a “husband” she hated. But while she watched, she says she was also waiting for a chance to break free. And after six long months, it finally came.
“I had planned my escape from the beginning. There was a time my husband spent two weeks away, so I attempted to escape but guards returned me and beat me,” she told CNN in an interview.
Haleema said luck smiled on her when eventually, her captors’ vigilance began to slip and she managed to escape and she walked for what felt like days, until she finally reached safety.
Haleema said luck smiled on her when eventually, her captors’ vigilance began to slip and she managed to escape and she walked for what felt like days, until she finally reached safety.
She recalled that she arrived home to discover that her father had been killed by the same Boko Haram insurgents who had held her captive for almost a year just as she had become pregnant by her Boko Haram husband.
Now seven months pregnant, the former Boko Haram abductee, says she lives daily with the fear of stigmatisation by the men in her community.
“People in this village are rejecting me because of the pregnancy. Some will be happy to have me dead. Many people are even saying that I should go for an abortion,” she lamented.

“People in this village are rejecting me because of the pregnancy. Some will be happy to have me dead. Many people are even saying that I should go for an abortion,” she lamented.
Though the men, according to her, have made it clear that they would not have children fathered by Boko Haram live amongst them, and have threatened to kill both her and her baby, she is willing to have the baby and abortion is not an option.
Also speaking, Um Haleema’s mother says she immediately feared the worst when news got to her that her daughter had been abducted.
“Anybody captured by Boko Haram is presumed dead. They abducted my step-daughter and my daughter. They took a total of seven girls from this house,” she said.

She said though some mothers consider abortion the only way out, it’s not a risk she’s willing to take with her daughter.
“We heard about one girl who died after she attempted an abortion, losing both the mother and the baby. The girl was the only child to her mother, so that scared us. If God wishes, she will give birth safely. Life is in the hands of God alone,” she pointed out.
However, men in the village have denied threatening Um Haleema and her unborn baby.
However, men in the village have denied threatening Um Haleema and her unborn baby.
“I am not aware of any woman in this village who was impregnated by them. If any woman is found to be pregnant, in our tradition, the pregnancy is considered Haram (unlawful), hence we cannot accept them wholeheartedly because they can be like baby snakes,” a local vigilante in the community said in an interview.
The vigilante leader said that his group didn’t believe Um Haleema had been forced into marriage and said that she and her unborn child would always be viewed with suspicion. He however declined comment on what he and his men might do about it.

There are no exact figures, but aid agencies and government officials have told CNN that an alarming percentage of girls rescued from Boko Haram have returned pregnant.
The UNFPA, which is working in camps for Nigeria’s internally displaced, reports that 214 women in the camps are visibly pregnant, but it is still assessing how many got pregnant while being held by Boko Haram, and if there are still more in the earlier stages of pregnancy.
“We do not know yet the total number of pregnant girls among those rescued,” said Stephane Dujarric, spokesman for United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in a report. “The screening is still ongoing.”

UNFPA said it is working to meet the medical, physical and psychological needs of the freed women.
In recent months, Nigeria’s military has raided several Boko Haram bases freeing captive women and children. In late April to early May, about 700 women and girls were rescued in separate operations.

Obasanjo secretly repatriated 13,000 Women from Italy- Patrick dele Cole
•Speaks on Europe, US and African immigrants dying at sea
Dr. Patrick Dele Cole served during the first term of former President Olusegun Obasanjo as Special Adviser on International Relations. In this piece, Cole speaks on the ill of African immigration to Europe.
War costs money and, at the end, someone has to pay. In the 17th, 18th, 19th centuries, the vanquished usually paid in cash or by loss of territories. Germany had been asked to pay unitive damages after the First World War which it did for a while and, as recently as a few weeks ago, Greece called on Germany to pay war reparations to it for Germany’s Second World War activities to enable it settle its debts. Germany was supposed to have paid reparations for two World Wars but the experience of the aftermath of the First World War may have deterred the losers from seeking full reparations. After the World Wars, the Marshall Plan was executed. It was aimed at bringing Europe back from the heavy pounding and massive destruction of nearly all of both sides to the war. Hamburg Stuttgart, Berlin, Frankfurt were more or less flattened (not many people bothered about women and children when the allies pulverited Germany and Japan). Whatever else the Marshall plan was, it was also an admission by the US that it will be responsible for returning Europe to its feet and on the way to prosperity.
In Iraq, there was no such commitment. The first invasion of Kuwait and the subsequent expulsion of Iraq from Kwait were paid for by Kuwait.
The US attack on Iraq (the second time), the cost of that war has not been calculated and no one will have the temerity to ask Iraq to pay, not after the activities of the allies. But who will pay?
When the allies destroy a country’s infrastructure, its civil institutions, all that is achieved is a ready made ground for extremist propaganda and easy recruitment. This is the reason for the success of the ISIS.
Libyan territory has been tilled for the seeds of extremist radical Islamic propaganda and will pay for the irresponsibility of the West.
The next war
I have a rather whimsical view of these immigrants wanting to go to Europe. That is how it should be. Throughout history, the twentieth century is the most settled and sedentary century and there is something wrong in that statement. Man has always moved when necessity pushed him. It was necessity that pushed people to move to the Valleys of Tigrits and Euphrates and thus began the road blocks of modern civilization. Social scientists like Arthur Young, David Ricardo, Karl Max Darwin, Charles Maithus, Noan Chomaky, and nearly all those who study power and how it is used to move and conquer people, or the accumulation of wealth and the social pressure caused thereby inequality, can never be surprised that “immigrants” are moving into Europe. Some even believe that plagues, wars, etc are essential curbs to population explosion. Others believe that the next war would be about access to potable water.
The Europeans carried the free trade doctrine to India, China, and Japan. When China and Japan saw the deleterious effects of the so-called free trade, they baulked. The Europeans established houses, “consultates”, a legal system that exempted their goods, mostly heroin, and themselves, from obeying local laws. Heroin devastated China and Japan. Today, Syrians, Armonians, etc, are refugees and feel it is right to go to Europe. The Italians made a right travesty of Somalia, Eritrea, etc, leading these countries to their failed states status. The Europeans conquered Africa, colonized it.Several centuries ago, Europeans arrived in Africa uninvited. No visa, no passport. They said they came to trade, that there was a new world wide doctrine of free trade. The Africans replied that they knew of no such doctrine and did not want to trade with them. From that time, Europe began a new drive that they had a manifest destiny to “civilize”Africa.
As for Africans, I do not have any apology if they went to Europe. Europeans came to Africa uninvited. They went to the US. The Red Indians who presumably owned the land were cajoled, bribed, killed and conquered. Today, they remain the poorest group in the richest country.
Attitude to migrants
The British Penal Colony, having failed in Virginia, the British had to find a new one in Australia. On whose invitation? The attitude of the Australians to immigrants must be the most morally reprehensible:
First kill as many of the aboriginal inhabitants as possible. Then develop the country to the exclusion of the aborigins exept when they want to make a film of crocodile Dundee and Evoyne Goola-gang. When Indians or Polynesians or Melanedians want to go to Australia, they are put in detention centers. Why bother? Just gas them as Hitler did!
No nation has travelled more than the Irish in the world. And understandably so. The Americas are full of the surplus of Europe, French, Spanish, Portuguese, English, Irish, Danes, etc. Their language, their colour, their food, in less than 300 years, the white people of Europe had done what even one billion Chinese have been unable to do, turn the Americans into an out post of Europe. Whatever the Pope thought he was doing in 1492 when, through a Papal Bill, he divided the new world between Spain and Portugal, he was wrong and owes the world an apology. If Europe had not gone to Australia, North and South America, where do you suppose there would be a war of xenophobia today?
Just imagine a programme where all Australians, New Zealanders, white South Africans, white North and South Africans were to be returned to Europe!!! Those in Europe who preach against immigration and the return of immigrants to their home countries should be warned.
What would a Syrian, a Somalian or European do in his country? When the West was bombing Libya, praising a non-existent democratic spring, what did they expect to happen? The trek across the Sahara is more dangerous than the sea journey across the Mediterrannean. And when you have finished that trek, what do you see in Africa? Nigeria, Ghana, Chad, Niger, Guinea and Cote d’Ivoire-countries exploited, admittedly with local cooperation.
Europe is no paradise
Are these stable governments for the immigrants to live in?
I remember one of our more specific melodies about being in love in one world. The immigrants across the Mediterranean are bringing that one world nearer. To some, the above is just art, it has no solution. I believe the problem, to be serious enough, is to engage the African Union and the European Union (EU); careful records should be made of all those who arrive at the European ports, their agents hunted down and jailed. ECOWAS countries should have their representatives, as in Libya, at the ports gathering vital information. Every African embassy in Europe should be engaged in tracking down these disgraceful people whose images on national television merely emphasis the thesis of the black people coming to take over their jobs in Europe.
Those who are returned should be given vocational training so that they could find jobs at home. Europe is not the paradise in these people’s dream and many of them end up disillusioned and radicalised. The bill for this should be paid largely by the US, France and the UK for removing two of the best safely values: Ghadaffi and Mubbarak. It would cost a lot but means have to be found to prevent that money ending in the pockets of politicians and generals.
The regional organizations of ECOWAS, EAC, SADAC and Magreb Union should be energized for the work. The African countries these people come from are not intrinsically poor. Their poverty is partly due to corruption freely engaged in by the West China, and the shadow governments they encourage in Africa. A commission should be set up to bring back those misguided and unfortunate people. Some in the Western press and government will fall into the sympathy cauldron of lesbian, homosexual and others who would claim that they ran to Europe to escape persecution, or female circumcision, now popularized as female genital mutilation (by the way, why is male circumcision not described as “male genital mutilation?). If this is a standard the West wishes to approve for refugee status, that commission should be able to sort this out and asylum could be given to these categories of people in Europe and the United States.
The above is merely a first step. When we next meet for trade talks, then a simple question to ask is, why is it that most cocoa profit does not stay in Ghana, Nigeria, and Cote d’ Ivoire, etc? If these countries owned Nestle, Hershley, Cadbury, etc, then perhaps there would be less economic migrants to Europe. Just compare the wealth of Hershley, Cadbury and Nestle with the people who produce cocoa in Africa. The answer to this cannot be good corporate responsibility.
Finally, France, Great Britain and the United States brought this debacle on themselves, the immigrants and Europe. They removed Ghadaffi and unleashed tribal tensions which have no where to go but to implode within it or to explode into some irrational radicalized notion of Islam, draped in black, with the obiqutous AK 47. It sounded fine that they were removing a dictator. How many have died since? It sounded alright to bring the price of oil down. There were Western nations buying Libyan oil as low as US$10 a barrel to fill up strategic reserves. They paid US $10 but paid that amount in guns.
Dying to reach Europe
One last question: Apart from Iran and Turkey, Egypt, Iran, which Islamic state is making arms? Where are all these arms which fortify ISIS coming from? The AU should hold a conference on the disgrace of Africans dying in an attempt to reach Europe, to an uncertain future in an uncertain adventure.
AU should demand reparation for Libya. It should take action in Eritrea, Somalia, etc. The money from reparation should be used in a program to help the would-be refugees to develop at home and avoid this horrible immigration.
There are three United Nations Protocols on Human Trafficking and Treatment of Refugees. There is little problem with the first one, except the provision that a refugee must seek asylum at the first port of call. Many countries deliberately flout the second protocol – treatment of refugees.
But people are exposed to danger in crossing the Sahara. Bedouin or Surwa Arabs or Puel’s tribes are the middlemen: the starting price for the journey is US$5,000 – then the price goes up to US$10,000 and possibly the sale of human body parts – Kidney, liver, cornea, then the would-be refugee is left to die. Women start the journey to Libya from Eritrea, Somalia, Nigeria, Ghana, etc with US$5,000. One set of traffickers then hand over these people to another set of traffickers who demand double. If the would-be refugee is a woman, she is sold into slavery or used as a prostitute until the debt is discharged.
Then, on to a boat, another set of traffickers take over the helpless woman to prostitute for the same journey, which takes 6-10 years of stop and go. In 1999 – 2010, the Obasanjo administration repatriated 13,000 women from Italy. This was done quietly to avoid shame to the families.
Protocols should be awakened, institutions built – robust campaign in the home countries must be carried out.
Most work has to be done in the home countries. None of these “refugees”spend less than US$7,000: What would a person who is able to raise such money in Africa want to go and do in Europe? He or she may end up as traffic warden, car wash attendant, house boy or house maid. We must produce progammes where if you can raise such an amount here, you are better off investing it in Africa. Human traffckers trade routes must be traced and stopped at source.
The routes should be policed.
We must qualify for next round- Falcons coach vows
Super Falcons coach, Edwin Okon has promised to ensure his wards qualify for the knock out stage of the 2015 Women’s World Cup in Canada.
Okon who was speaking after the African champions were beaten 2-0 by a tactically superior Australia side, said his girls must come out and attack against the USA team in their next match on Tuesday.
Okon started by reflecting on the ill-fated encounter against the Australian ladies.
Okon queried match officials’ decision to award Kyah Simon’s second goal on the night as legitimate and faulted them for short changing his side on added time by 4 minutes.“I thought it was a very good match. I congratulate the winners, Australia,” he said, adding, “we have to get back out and score goals. We must qualify. Nigeria must qualify to the next round. So we must get back to the form we had against Sweden”. He however blamed the centre referee who handled their match against Australia who ended the match abruptly.
“I don’t have much to say but at that level we are not happy with the officiating the second goal and the added time.
“As long as we know, 2 or 3 minutes can produce two goals, cutting off 4 good minutes for a side was not fair because we believe with that 4 minutes anything could still happen on the pitch of play,” Okon said.
“ I’ve maintained that no team at this stage is a bad side. We’ll go back and work because we must qualify to the next round, the children are aware, they know their mistakes.”

Okowa Congratulates Uncle Sam at 80
By Festus Ahon, ASABA
DELTA State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has congratulated Mr Sam Amuka, the publisher of Vanguard newspaper on his 80th birthday. The Governor, in a statement by his Communication Manager, Mr Jackson Ekwugum, said: “Uncle Sam, as he is fondly called by admirers, is an icon of journalism in Nigeria with his impeccable credentials as a columnist, editor and publisher, spanning over four decades”.
The Governor recalls that Amuka’s “Sad Sam” column in the Daily Times in the 60s and early 70s was a must read and contributed immensely to the library of thought and information on public policy and national development. Mr Amuka’s trail blazing strides in the pen profession continued when he co-founded The Punch with the late Olu Aboderin in 1973.
“The advent of Vanguard, the ‘refreshingly different’ newspaper in 1984, greatly shaped the course of the journalism profession with its emphasis on racy news, balanced reporting, and incisive commentary. His Excellency is delighted that the Vanguard has continued in this tradition, and is thus a significant force in the socio-political evolution of Nigeria.

Afrocandy slams Nicki Minaj for copying her style
US-based Nollywood actress Judith Mazagwu, popularly known as Afrocandy, has an attitude, so is American singer, Nicki Minaj. One common thing to both of them is that neither gives a hoot about how she is seen in public. Both have the knack of leaving their admirers speechless in their choice of style which, more often, is subject of sensual commotion.
“I’ve had this outfit for a while but was waiting to lose weight before I could wear it, then I saw Nicki Minaj wearing a similar outfit.Though their paths never crossed, it would seem Afrocandy has gone out of her way to ram into the singer when she accused her of copying her dress style. According to her, she had an outfit for a while but because of weight, she had to wait a bit to shed some pounds only for her to see Minaj in that same dress.
I said to myself, mmmmh; this person is copying my style. So yesterday, a fan called me. I was complaining about my weight and tummy, he told me not to worry that my fans love me the way I am with the big stomach.
That gave me a lot of confidence even though I hear it all the time. I guess I am gonna stop worrying and flaunt myself the way I am. This is how I am rolling out today, I am bringing sexy look back!”, she wrote on her social handle.
Nicki, who isn’t probably aware of Afrocandy’s outburst, hasn’t responded but many have slammed Afrocandy for craving cheap publicity. See if there is anything close in the dress styles

Clinton in a bid to become first woman President promises an America for everyone
Hillary Clinton launched Saturday her bid to become the first woman president of the United States, unveiling a progressive platform calling for tax breaks for the struggling middle class and universal preschool.
Dressed in an electric blue pant suit, a confident and relaxed 67-year-old Clinton outlined a vision of equal opportunity, civil rights for all and an America leading the world in the first major rally of her campaign.
Addressing several thousand ardent supporters in New York, the home turf where she served as senator, she emphasized her four decades in public service as the most qualified candidate to lead the country.
Clinton emphasized her security and foreign policy credentials, promised to build the economy, strengthen families and communities, get unaccountable money out of politics and protect the country from threats.
At the end, she was joined on stage by husband and former president Bill, their daughter Chelsea and their son-in-law Marc Mezvinsky, embracing, holding hands and waving to a rapturous sea of waving flags on Roosevelt Island.
“I may not be the youngest candidate in this race. But I will be the youngest woman president in the history of the United States,” she said to cheers and applause. “And the first grandmother as well!”
Clinton promised tax relief to small business owners, to make America the clean energy superpower of the 21st century.
She vowed to make preschool and quality child care available to every child, make college more affordable by lifting “the crushing burden” of debt, equal pay for women, raising the minimum wage and an end to discrimination against the LGBT community.
Clinton promised to maintain America’s global leadership, to counter threats posed by Russia, North Korea and Iran, cyberattacks and by the Islamic State extremist group in Syria and Iraq.
– Prosperity for all –
“America can’t succeed unless you succeed, that is why I am running for president of the United States,” she said to chants of “Hillary, Hillary.”
“Prosperity just can’t be for CEOs and hedge fund managers. Democracy can’t be just for billionaires.”
She launched a stinging attack on the Republican party, painting her conservative foes as out of touch with a diverse electorate, and lampooned their tax breaks in favor of the super wealthy at the expense of the hard-working middle class such as nurses and small-business owners.
“I am running to make the economy work for you and for every American,” she said.
In a deeply personal speech, she drew on the disadvantaged background of her mother, who was forced to work as a maid aged 14 after being abandoned, and told voters that she understood first hand their problems.
“My mother taught me that everybody needs chance and a champion. She knew what it was like not to have either one,” Clinton said.
“That’s why I believe with all my heart in America and in the potential of every American to meet every challenge, to be resilient no matter what the world throws at you, to solve the toughest problems.”
She cracked jokes in an effort to present a more human touch, met by whoops of delight, that referenced a lifetime in public service.
She spoke on Roosevelt Island, named after America’s great World War II and New Deal president Franklin D. Roosevelt, and rooted her campaign in his legacy, as well as that of her husband and Barack Obama.
“I’ve been called many things by many people,” she said to laughter.
“Quitter is not one of them,” Clinton said to applause.
“Like so much else in my life, I got this from my mother. When I was a girl, she never let me back down from any bully or barrier.”

4 Siblings in China Killed Themselves After Being Abandoned By Their Parents.
Four siblings aged between 5 and 13 reportedly committed suicide in Bijie City in China's province Guizhou on Tuesday June 9 after they were abandoned by their parents. The oldest, a girl, reportedly left a note saying 'today is the day to go', before she and her two sisters and brother drank poison. Neighbours who noticed that the children hadn't been seen in a while went to their house to find them all lying still. She contacted other neighbours who rushed the children to the hospital where they later all died.
Police said they can't confirm if the children had all deliberately drank poison to kill themselves or if one of them had put poison in their food unknowingly to others as the youngest who was just 5 years old can't understand what suicide is...
According to Chinese authority, their mother, Ren Xifen, left home in March 2014 after a long and bitter feud with their father, Zhang Fangqi, who left the village to find work in the city in March 2015, leaving the children to fend for themselves. Their father had left food in the house for the children and asked a neighbour to keep an eye on them. He also left some money in his bank account and gave his bank card to his eldest child. There was more than $400 still in the card after the children were found.
A relative said she went there twice a week to check on the children, who had become withdrawn after their father left. They even stopped going to school.
Police say the children's parent are yet to come forward
